2013 Bassmaster Classic site announced

Nov 10, 2011 (BIRMINGHAM, Ala./TULSA, Okla.) — B.A.S.S., and the Tulsa Sports Commission announced today its selection of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees and the Tulsa metro region as the site and host of the 2013 Bassmaster Classic, Feb. 22-24, 2013. It is the 43rd edition of sport fishing's greatest championship and the first to be hosted by the state of Oklahoma.

Iowa State Junior Championship.

On June 25th 2011 The Iowa Bass Federation Nation (IBFN) hosted the IBFN state youth championship at Prairie du Chien pool 10 on the Mississippi river. A great group of 20 youth participated with each youth assigned by draw with a volunteer who provided a boat and guided each of the youth. The tournament is divided into two age groups 11 – 14 and 15 – 18.

The older group was won by Josh Miller of Lisbon, Iowa representing the Cedar Rapids Junior Bassmasters. Josh had a total weight of 10lbs and 3ozs. He also caught the big bass in his age group with a bass weighing 2lbs and 14ozs.

The younger age group was won by Hunter Reifschneider of Marion, Iowa. He also is a member of the Cedar Rapids Junior Bassmasters. His winning weight was 10lbs. and 1oz. Hunter also won big bass in his age group with a bass weighing 3lbs. and 11ozs.

Both winners are now invited to participate in the Northern Division BASS Tournament in August at Ft. Madison. They will fish with the 1st alternate for the state team and their weights will be added to the state team score.

A great big thank you goes out to all those youth who participated, the boaters who volunteered their boats and guide service to these youth. Another big thank you to all the friends, relatives and volunteers whose efforts made this tournament possible by their labor and support.

2012 Iowa Tournament Permits

I just got an email from the Iowa DNR and we will be able to submit our 2012 tournament permits as early as September 1st this year. Which means that if you have a proposal for a tournament in Iowa, we need to know about it and vote on it sometime in August. Now for those us who to apply for our club permits can now go out and celebrate New Years inistead of staying up just to get our permits in first. As a reminder for WI tournaments, we can submit 2012 permits beginning April 1st of 2011. Questions, let me know.. Miles
